There once was a time when Marvel didn’t rule the world. Yes, I know it is extremely hard to believe. It once struggled for recognition, especially in the gaming world. But, one fateful day an arcade game was released that would set the trend for Marvel greatness. That game was CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE AVENGERS. And yes, before you ask, it is part of the greatest genre of all time “BEAT’ EM UP”. So, you know that it is going to be awesome. I know that you millennials out there have no idea what I am talking about. But, don’t worry I am here to expose you to one of my childhood favorites.

You see those characters up there? That’s right! You can play with up to four players at once. And check this out; all of them had their own special attacks and combos. At the time that was an extremely rare feature. Even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles didn’t have that. All the turtles did the same moves and there weren’t any special techniques at all.

Let’s talk about the boss fights for one second. This game had some of the most challenging and entertaining boss fights. Each one presented a really unique challenge. You would really have to put your thinking cap on before rolling up on that Sentinel. He used to hand me my hat, good grief. I still have nightmares about it geez.

One thing I really enjoyed about it were the stages themselves. It really had a comic book feel to it. The colors were so vibrant and colorful, and the way the characters moved felt like it was the comics coming to life. Not to mention the campy one liners that the villains and heroes would say to each other. It is just an overall awesome gaming experience.

So, tell me; Do you remember this game? Or is this brand new to you? I would love to hear from you in the comment section below.
