DO YOU REMEMBER: WAR OF THE MONSTERS?

Who doesn’t love giant Kaiju battles. If you grew up watching Godzilla, King Kong or Gundam, this game was a dram come true. I remember spending countless hours wrecking cities and ruining the lives of towns people as I established my dominance. But, when I talk about this game to other people, they have no idea what I’m talking about. How could such an awesome game be completely unknown? Unfortunately, the game’s developer; Incognito Entertainment, has been defunct since 2009. So, to say the least, their titles aren’t in the forefront. But don’t worry my friends, I am here to help. Let’s look back at WAR OF THE MONSTERS.
CHARACTERS

Get a load of that line up. Each of these characters are a homage to the Kaiju monsters of the 50’s. I’m pretty sure you can tell which ones are from Godzilla and King Kong at least. They each have their own unique abilities; strengths and weaknesses. I personally used Togera most of the time. Just look at how cool that guy looks. Each character is a unique experience. One does not feel like the other. Hats off to the Incognito Entertainment crew for putting in the work to bring us such cool characters.
STAGES

I really think that stage layouts were really cool. From mountain tops; nuclear waste dumps and big cities, the stages were visually stunning and a lot of fun. Each stage had its own disaster that could be triggered. If you were at the nuclear waste dump you could launch a nuke at your opponent. Or if you were in a Japanese city you could trigger a tidal wave to come through and wipe the city. The stages were creative and well thought out. The only game that we have currently that resembles this level of stage interaction is the Super Smash Bros. franchise. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have more of this today.
GAMEPLAY

This game is just absolute loads of fun. Up to four players can get into this arena style fighting game and duke it out for Kaiju supremacy. There are fully destructible environments; make shift weapons; ultimate finishing techniques and much more. There is also a solo campaign in which the player goes through multiple battles and bosses. The player will be able to unlock new skins; characters and stages. It’s a fully engaging experience and it is a lot of fun.
